Staying in touch with people can be difficult in college. AIM is great, but your parents might not be so computer-savvy. And, you'll probably have one friend who just isn't on AIM all the time. (Strange, we know.) Believe us, you don't want your mom yelling at you because, "You never call home." Nor do you want your mom calling you on a Saturday night when you're drunk with your friends, insisting that you talk to her. Here are some little things you can do to keep in touch with your parents and friends, wherever they might be. WARNING: PERFORMING THESE ACTS IN PUBLIC WILL GENERALLY MARK YOU AS A FIRST-YEAR

• send pictures of your room when it's all pretty after you've moved in
• send pictures of your room after you've rearranged it 20 times.
• send pictures of you and your friends in front of Faunce House.
• leave a card to your roommate on his/her birthday in your mailbox
• send a postcard to younger siblings/people you used to baby-sit for
• take your laptop to the dining hall have a long distance lunch date via AIM with your parents/sibling/friend back home/friend at another school
• bring home a Providence souvenir
• buy your family Brown sweatshirts

Remember, you're at Brown! Don't be afraid to go out and meet some of the greatest students on the planet.
